Dear friends,
Happy Easter Season!
+ First Reconciliation:
Please keep in your thoughts and prayers for the following students as they prepare for their First Reconciliation on Sunday, April 19, 2009:
Ciprianna Hernandez
Inga Hokens
Matthew Reddix
+ From Assunta and Jack Yo:
I received a letter from Assunta Yoh, sent from Taipei. Given the poor health condition of Jack, her husband she had decided to move there permanently ago in March one month. They wanted to be near their children who are living in Taiwan.
According to Assunta, Jack is suffering from lung cancer, in a third stage (probably in a terminal state).
Assunta also had a microscopic surgery done to her right knee in late March in Taipei. She is recovering well and she is at home now. She asked me to share this information with Parishioners and asked for our prayers for Jack and for herself.
I will write her and send her a get well card: cards are available at my office and we could send them together in one batch by next Saturday 4/25. Please remember these dear friends in your prayers.
Her mailing address in Taipei is:

+ Gratitude:
Now that Lent and the “Holy Week” are over, I wish to express my gratitude to all those who helped us, in so many different ways, so that the Liturgical celebrations, “Fish Fry” and “Stations of the Cross” were truly a success. May God bless you for your generosity.
+ International Noodles Night:
We at St. Therese are proud to announce that The 9th “International Noodles Night” Dinner-fundraiser is round the corner
It will take place on Saturday, April 25th, 2009 at 6:00P.M.
The menu represents all of the ethnic groups in the parish. There will also be music, raffles, and games for kids after dinner. This can be a good chance to see old friends, and we would be extremely happy to see you as well.
There will be FIVE food stations featuring: Italian, Chinese, Indonesian, Filipino, and Korean Cuisine.
We are looking for gift certificates, airlines tickets, gifts-baskets, electronics, I-Pods, games for kids to raffle, etc. Monetary and food donations are most welcome.
Donations: $30 adults and any contribution for children under 12 years old.
We kept prices the same this year in order to keep this event affordable for all our parishioner’s. Think of it as a cost-effective way of helping our church as well as a nice night out.
This year has been extremely challenging for all of us. Our average weekly collection has been down (like all other parishes) and we really need your support. Any type of cash donation in order for us to buy food and supplies for this event will be greatly appreciated.
We have sent out the invitations with enclosed $20 worth of raffle tickets. If you would like the chance to win a prize (Computer and Burmese jade pendant) and also support the parish, please fill out the top portion of each ticket and mail them back to us with a check. The address is:

+ Divine Mercy Sunday
The Catholic Church declared the second Sunday of Easter as “Divine Mercy Sunday”. This feast is connected to the visions of Saint Faustina in which Jesus asked for this celebration. In 200, Pope John Paul II declared Faustina a saint, and, one month later, he fulfilled what Jesus had asked to be done and designated the Second Sunday of Easter as “Divine Mercy Sunday”.

+ Contemporary/Guitar Mass
We will have a contemporary/guitar mass at St. Therese on April 26, at 9:30AM. It will be a change of pace for our worship, with rhythmic music and contemporary hymns.
We will be assisted by Doris Lucas (cantor), Steve Marion and two teen guitar players from St. Gerald Parish at Oak Lawn. A few youth members of their choir may also join in.
We hope this first guitar mass will pique your interest and help kick off the formation of our own guitar band at St. Therese. We know there are parishioners who play guitar, drums, or other instruments. We also know there is strong interest among our young people to learn guitar to serve. Well, it's time to come together and start a band for our guitar mass!
So...if you play guitar, or think you can play guitar, or want to learn, please contact Lily May or Joe Delfin now. (minimum age: 12)
Going forward....watch this space in the bulletin for more announcements. We look forward to having youth and adults actively involved in music ministry at St. Therese!
