+ Rite of Commissioning for Ministers of Holy Communion:
On Sunday, May 3rd at the 9:30 a.m. Mass the newly certified Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will be commissioned to administer the body and blood of our Lord and so serve to build up our Church.
+ The Holy Shroud of Turin:
“Shroud” means “Burial Linen”, in the case the linen where the dead body of Christ was rapped and which shows the marks of His passion. Nobody can explain it: its composition, the way the body is imprinted into to it, since it is not a painting. Is venerated in the city of Turin.
The “mystery of the Holy Shroud and a case for its authenticity will be discussed in a lecture at “All Saints-St. Anthony Parish on Thursday May 7th at 7:00pm.

+ May Crowning
Also this year we shall have the traditional “May Crowning” thanks to the faith and devotion kept alive by the SMI Club. I would like to invite Parishioners to attend this historical ceremony which will be held in Church at the special 11:30 am Mass on May 3rd.
+ International Noodles night:
At the moment of writing this bulletin, the “9th International Noodles Night” is still in preparation. I see people getting busy with the last details for this event which promises to be outstanding.
I have in front of me the menu which looks delicious
- Italian:
Manicotti, Ravioli in ragout sauce
Handmade “Cavatelli” & Meatballs
Sausage and green pepper.
Salad.
Mustaccioli and Mushrooms.
Bruschetta with anion and cheese.
- Chinese:
Seafood Satay Noodles.
Pork & Napa Lo Mein Noodles
Vermicelli (Amoy) Rice Noodles
Chicken Chow Mein
- Filipino:
Pancit (Vermicelli, BBQ Pork, Chicken, Veggies).
Filipino Cold Noodles w/Shrimp.
- Korean:
Chop Chae
Kim Chee
- Indonesian: (waiting for George to contact Imelda)
Dessert:
Italian and Chinese Cookies, Coffee, cream & sugar
Tea & Almond cookies.
There will be also a Raffle which sees several prizes, gift-certificates (Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant $100) and White Sox tickets: Sox vs. Detroit and Sox vs. Seattle.
There will also be music, raffles, and games for kids after dinner. I am sure that it will be a good chance to see old friends, and an opportunity for me to see the Parish rejoicing together.
I have asked the committee to prepare the list of donors to be acknowledged.
+ First steps towards the establishment of the Board of Specific Jurisdiction.
The Parish Financial Council met on Sat. April 25th to finalize the first steps to concretize the BSJ. Present at the meeting were also Sr. Mary Paul McCaughey, Superintendent of Schools and Patricia Walegala.
We are moving in the right direction and I am happy to announce that the new administration will become effective as from July 1st 2009.
+ Scholarship Award: 2009
Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, also this year, St. Therese parish is able to offer “College Scholarships”.
Application-forms are available at the church entrance. Application deadline: May 24th, 2009.
Please, note that applications, complete with required documents, must be post-marked or hand-delivered by this date to St. Therese Church. They should be sent to the attention of: “The Scholarship Committee”

+ Contemporary/Guitar Mass:
I would like to thank Lily May, Joe Delfin, Doris Lucas (cantor), Steve Marion and the two teen guitar players from St. Gerald Parish at Oak Lawn, who will play for us at the 9:30am Mass. It will be a change of pace for our worship, with rhythmic music and contemporary hymns.
We are looking forward to having youth and adults actively involved in music ministry at St. Therese!
