+ “Father’s Day

I’d like to wish a very Happy “Father’s Day” to all the men of our Parish. We shall express them our appreciation in a very simple ceremony after Communion.

+ College Scholarship Award: 2008:

We shall have today the award of two College-scholarships. These scholarships are of $1,000 and are intended for College Students. We received several applications which were scrutinized by the “Scholarship Committee” who also interviewed candidates. Two applicants qualified.

It is only through the generosity of an anonymous donor, that also this year, our Parish is able to offer these precious College-Scholarships to deserving and needy students..

Our gratitude to our generous donor, and "our best wishes” to the recipients:

• Matthew Chan, graduate Lincoln Park High School. He will attend IIT major in computer science. He is a Volunteer at CASL & Mercy Hospital

• Rachel Young. She is a straight A student at Whitney Young High School and she will attend University of Illinois, Champaign. Her goal in life is to become a doctor. She and her family are parishioners of St. Therese.

+ Appreciation Sunday:

Gratitude is a must for Christians. As we announced last Sunday, we intended to acknowledge and honor the dedication and commitment of only SOME Parishioners.

We acknowledged primarily all the catechists while the other ministries: translators, choir, lectors, altar-servers etc.... were honored as a group in their leaders.

In spite of all efforts, three people were left out by mistake: we apologize and we acknowledge them today. They are:

• Rose Centofanti:  the faithful  reader for the 8:30am Mass on Sunday.
• Larry Kirwan: the Usher and in charge of the collection at the 9:30am Mass.
• Lucy Moy: the leader and animator of the “Sacred Heart Ladies”.

Best wishes and our gratitude to them and to all the “hidden workers” of the Kingdom of God at St. Therese

 + Summer Mission Appeal:

The weekend of June 21-22, 2008, Fr. Aloysius Chika Kamalu, C.S.Sp. will visit our parish to speak at the Masses about the missionary work of the Church. Learn more about the Holy Ghost Fathers and their mission in the attached article.
