Dear friends,
+ From Cesare Campagnoli, SJ:
Last Sunday we bade farewell to Cesare. He has written a short note that you can find in this issue of our Weekly Bulletin.
+ First Holy Communion Picture:
The attached photo of our Communicandi was taken by Al DiFranco. It captures a very important moment of the life of our Parish. The black-an-white version doesn’t make justice to the original one. Thanks!
+ Confirmation:
Let us continue to keep in our prayers the Confirmati of this year. We wish to congratulate and thank Joe and Cesare for their hard work in preparing the children for this important moment and organizing the liturgy. It was a very prayerful moment that everybody enjoyed.
+Second Collection for the Retired Priests of the Archdiocese:
The second collection today will be for the Retired Priests of the Archdiocese. We owe them a debt of gratitude

+ Matching Contribution for the “New Church Roof “: June 8th –Sept 8th 2008
Last year heavy rains caused and extensive damage to our church-roof and the interiors of the church itself. Luckily our Insurance Company covered most of the costs caused by the leak. It was made clear that they wouldn't do it again in the future, because the church needs a new roof and this is our responsibility.
They made it clear that the Insurance Premium will be increased if we don't replace the existing old roof.
The Financial Committee studied different bids and eventually the “Midwest Siding and Windows Inc.” was chosen. The cost is of $39,000 which we hope to raise through a Matching Contribution Campaign.
A Parishioner, who wishes to remain anonymous offered to match up to $20,000.00 This is indeed a wonderful news. The Matching Contribution Campaign for the “New Church Roof “: will begin on June 8th to end on Sept 8th 2008.
Please, make sure that for your donation you use the envelopes that you can find on the desks situated at the back of the church. We would appreciate is, when writing a check, you specified that it is meant for this cause.
+ Cop Beat 2111
You will remember that, in the aftermath of the robbery at the Rectory, it was decided that we should be more present at community meetings, so that our voices and needs might be more easily heard. It would be highly appreciated if you decided to attend the Beat Meeting at the Chinatown Library on Wentworth on May 14th at 6:30PM prompt.
+ Appreciation Sunday:
Gratitude is a must for Christians. This Sunday we would like to acknowledge, and honor, the dedication and commitment of SOME Parishioners.
At times we give their services for granted. If the Church restrooms are always spick-and-span, and the basement spotless, it is because of Auggie Laudato who has been coming faithfully on Saturdays for over 8 years now to do it for us.
It is for the other ministries in our Parish which keep this Church going.
Obviously we can not acknowledge everybody, since it would be a too long and useless exercise.
This year we want to acknowledge all the catechists while the other ministries: translators, choir, lectors, altar-servers etc.... will be honored as a group in their leaders.
Attached is the list of the honorary volunteers.
