+ Novena to St. Therese

On Sept. 26th we shall begin our Novena in Honor of St. Therese, our Patroness. You will find the forms at the church entrance. We shall pray to her for nine day during Mass. Feel free to take the prayer home and to join us privately.

+ Celebrating the Christifideles awardees:

We want to celebrate and congratulate Henry, Jennifer and Naomi Chan. Reservations were made at “House of Fortune” Restaurant on Sunday Sep. 21s at 5:30p. John, Sheila Lin and myself chose the menu which promises to be delicious.  If you intend to join us, please, contact John.

+ 5th Parish Assembly:

It was a wonderful experience: we prayed together, planned together, shared plans and dreams. The presence of the Holy Spirit among us was almost “physical” and we got the energy and enthusiasm of beginning one more year together.

All the Parish groups (SMI, St. Rocco, Indonesian, Cantonese and Mandarin Speaking, Italians, Legion of Mary)  and ministries (Choir, Readers, Translators, Catechists, Youth, RCIA, Finance) were represented.

Special thanks to the school who was represented in the person of the Principal Cavallone, the chair of the School Board, and members of the Board.  Together we were 42 participants, quite a record!

+ Roofing Capital Campaign

We are happy to disclose that we have received donations for the amount of $20,942.00 that, with the “Matching contribution”   becomes $41,884.00.00.
To reach the budgeted $44,000.00 we need to raise $2,116.00 more. A little effort on the site of everybody will make it possible.
+ Catechetical Year 2008-09:

With the “Commissioning” we started the Catechetical Year 2008-09.  I was told that last Sunday there was a little argument over the classrooms’ location. We are space constraint, as you well know, and we try our level best to accommodate people.
Christine Delfin has prepared the description of how we have spread-out classes and kids, please, feel free to share your views and suggestions. The paper is available at the church entrance

+ Legion of Mary’s Appeal:

Linda from the “Legion of Mary” is asking people to help making Rosaries during the CCD classes or at home. Rosaries are always high in demand and short in supply.  While making them we can pray for those who will receive them; in this way we shall be helping in the Evangelization of Chinatown

+ Can you help?

I have received the following appeal that I share with you.

“Dear Father:  My own father died in 1950.  He grew up in the neighborhood and had a good Chinese friend named Thomas Choy.  I have was wondering if he or his children are sill alive and here in Chicago.  Can you please, post his picture for me in the church basement with a note to let me know if anyone recognizes them?  I would like to give them the picture (and make the acquaintance).  Thanks. + CONGRATULATIONS!

On behalf of all the Parish, Fr. Aniello and myself, I wish to congratulate Bernadette and Joseph Zito, Jr. on their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
It is a happy and a sacred moment in their life. They will renew their “Marriage Vows “ on Sunday Sept. 21st 2008 at 1:00pm.
