Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year. Father Michael and I hope your summer has been a pleasant and enjoyable time for you and your family. This school year already shows much promise.
- NEW FACULTY MEMBERS/ASSIGNMENTS
St. Therese is pleased to announce the addition of several new teachers. Our third grade teacher will be Ms. Lora Nincevich, who has been a teacher with CPS over the last year. Our new assistant principal, Mr. Nick Filipiak, will be assist me with several administrative responsibilities, while continuing to work in his role as the upper grade science teacher. Ms. Carol Patterson is our new Director of Religious Education for our parish. Coming from nearby St. James, she will assist us with our religious ministry and youth groups. Ms. Wai Yin Chan will be teaching the upper grade Cantonese teacher and Mr. Jerald Hughes will be our new bus driver/lunch coordinator.
- ORIENTATIONS AND PARENT NIGHT Mark your calendars!
Wednesday, August 13th - EARLY CHILDHOOD ORIENTATION, 10 am OR 5 pm
This special 1-hour orientation will help our new parents of young children entering preschool, junior kindergarten or kindergarten make that transition successful. Select the session that is the most convenient for you.
September, 22nd - PARENT NIGHT, 6 – 8 pm
All parents are welcome to attend. Come out and meet your child’s teacher and see some of the school’s new developments, especially our new technology! The focus of this year’s main speaker will be on Internet Safety.
Tuesday, October 14th - HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION, 6 – 8 pm
Parents and students in grades 6 – 8th should come to this important orientation that will review the process of applying to magnet, selective and private high schools. Representatives from private and Catholic High Schools will be represented.
- FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Our school year will begin on Friday, August 22nd. On this day we will have a full day, with bus service, lunch and uniforms in effect. Preschool, junior kindergarten and kindergarteners will have a half-day, with dismissal at noon. We will begin with a short prayer service downstairs at 8:15 a.m., in order to bless our children as they begin the new school year. Please remember to sign up for bus service with Mrs. Chan, if it is needed.
We are pleased to have you as our educational partners. With your help and cooperation, this should be another excellent school year in St. Therese tradition.
